1.7.20. Engine start-up from an external source

If because of the full or partial category of the storage battery the engine is not started, for start of the engine it is possible to use the battery of other car connected through connecting wires.

With a view of safety at engine start-up from an external source, observe, please, the technique of start described below. Otherwise there can be ignition or explosion which will lead to damage of both cars.

Deliver cars nearby with each other at the distance providing connection of connecting cables, but excluding contact of cars. If cars adjoin, there can be an undesirable grounding. In this case you cannot get the engine of the car, and also electrosystems of both cars can be damaged.

Check other car. It should be equipped with the storage battery with 12 V.Esli's rated voltage tension of other storage battery differs from 12 In, connection can lead to damage of electric equipment of both cars.

Moving of cars can lead to traumas. Turn on the parking brake of both cars. Establish the lever of the selector of an automatic transmission (on the car with an automatic transmission) in the situation "R" ("Parking") or the gear shifting lever (on the car with a mechanical transmission) in the neutral situation "N". Switch off ignition.

First of all, switch off ignition on both cars. Be convinced that wires and clothes will not get under blades of the fan or to driving belts, otherwise it is possible to be traumatized.

Disconnect all lamps of lighting, a heater and other electrodevices. It will prevent emergence of sparks and will allow to reduce the category of both storage batteries.

Be convinced that level of electrolit of the storage battery corresponds to norm.
Connect the end of one of connecting wires to positive (+) to the plug of the discharged battery room of the battery, and other end of this wire – to the positive plug (+) the storage battery on other car (used as an additional source).
Connect the end of other connecting wire to the negative (–) the plug of the storage battery of other car (used as an additional source), and other end of this wire – to the block of cylinders of the engine of the car with the discharged battery in a point which is most removed from the storage battery.

Before cable connection to the positive plug, remove a protective cover of the storage battery.

Strictly observe the following sequence of operations of connection of wires: 1–2–3–4.

Be convinced that the clip "crocodile" 4 (see fig.) is reliably fixed in the specified place. If connection is executed directly with the negative plug of the storage battery, it can lead to that the inflammable gases which are allocating from the battery, will cause ignition and explosion.
Do not connect positive (+) a wire to the negative (–) the plug. It can lead to emergence of a spark and cause explosion of the storage battery.
Use the connecting wires corresponding (on section of a wire and isolation) to both storage batteries. Otherwise wires can melt.
Before use of connecting wires check, whether there are no on them damages or corrosion traces.
Start the car engine with the battery which is used as an additional source, and let's to the engine work idling within several minutes, and then start the car engine with the discharged battery.

Always support turns of the engine of the car which storage battery is used as an additional source of a current that it did not decay.

After the engine is got, disconnect connecting wires as it should be, the return to procedure of their connection.

The charging of the storage battery established on the car, can lead to ignition, explosion or car damage. If it is extremely necessary to charge the battery, without removing it from the car, disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the accumulator.
In order to avoid explosion do not allow emergence of sparks or open fire, and also smoking near the storage battery.

At a charging of the storage battery or work with it indoors provide good ventilation.
Before a charging of the storage battery unscrew all covers its banok.
The electrolit of the storage battery is a solution of sulfuric acid which possesses corrosion action. If the electrolit got on hands, to eyes, on clothes, etc. or on the painted surface of the car, they need to be washed out immediately a plentiful quantity of water. If the electrolit got to eyes, immediately wash out them water and address for medical care.

If the engine works unstably after replacement of the storage battery
If the engine began to work unstably after replacement of the storage battery, carry out procedure of training of the electronic control unit by the engine as it is described below.
1. Stop the car in a safe place.
2. Establish the gear shifting lever in the neutral situation "N". Muffle the engine.
3. Start the engine again.
4. Disconnect central air.
5. Warm up the engine till the moment when the arrow of the index of temperature of cooling liquid will be approximately in the middle of a scale.
6. Muffle and again start the engine.
7. Let's to the engine work idling about 10 minutes.
8. It is possible to consider procedure of training finished after stabilization of turns of idling.

If the engine continues to work unstably after completion of procedure of training of the electronic control unit by the engine, address to official dealer Mitsubisi for car check.
