2.1.2. Operations in a motor compartment

Check of level of engine oil
Operations in a motor compartment
Believe that level of engine oil is between marks a maximum and a minimum. If level fell below a mark at least, add necessary amount of oil.

Check of a condition of the storage battery and its conclusions
Operations in a motor compartment
Check a condition of conclusions of the storage battery. Be convinced of their reliable fastening.

NOTE
Do not delete greasing from conclusions of the storage battery and from elements of fastening of wires.

Check of plaits of wires
Operations in a motor compartment
Be convinced of correctness of laying of each plait of wires and its fastening. Check density of landing of sockets.
in reliability of fastening of high-voltage wires to spark plugs, a cover of the distributor of ignition (or the sensor of provision of a cranked shaft) and ignition coils.

Check of operation of the engine and system of production of the fulfilled gases
Operations in a motor compartment
Check operation of the engine and smoothness of moving of a pedal of an accelerator.
Check elements of system of production of the fulfilled gases on existence of leaks.
Be convinced of lack of a smoke of the black color which is starting with an exhaust pipe (cars with the diesel engine).
Try to define existence of extraneous scratches, jingle and undesirable vibrations.
Be convinced of absence of the extraneous noise proceeding from the engine, transmission, bridges and car bodies.

Check of level of liquid in system of cooling of the engine
Operations in a motor compartment
Level of cooling liquid in a broad tank of system of cooling should be higher than a label of "LOW" (low) at normal working temperature of the engine. Be convinced of lack of a podtekaniye of cooling liquid through connections of branch pipes and hoses of system of cooling.
Concentration of antifreeze should be within 30–60 %.

ATTENTION
Do not uncover a radiator if the system of cooling is under superfluous pressure.
At removal of a cover be accurate, from (under it steam or hot cooling liquid can escape. Add antifreeze if necessary, in a broad tank.

Check of hoses, tubes and the unions located under a cowl
Operations in a motor compartment
Check all lines and unions (brake system, fuel system, the amplifier of a steering and central air). Check correctness of an arrangement of lines, existence of leaks in unions if it is necessary, tighten.
Check the provision of all vacuum hoses, and also hoses of system of cooling and heating.

ATTENTION
Remember that central air of air is under pressure.

NOTE
Existence of traces of oil round central air connections not necessarily is a consequence of leaks. Oil is used for greasing of connecting elements at assembly. Be convinced of lack of the braided or bent lines of system.

Check of smudges of oil and working liquids from the engine
Check existence of leakages of oil from the engine.

Check of hoses, tubes and the unions located under the bottom of the car
Operations in a motor compartment
Check all hoses and hydraulic lines, and also their connections on existence of leaks.
Be convinced of that all hoses and hydraulic lines correctly pass from the bottom of the car and do not concern keen edges and moving elements.
