2.5.2. Diagnostics of system of injection of fuel

Type of system of self-diagnostics
On models with system of self-diagnostics of the EOBD or OBD-II type the standard diagnostic code consists of one letter and 4 figures (for example: «P00G0»). Numbering of such codes continuous, i.e. malfunction codes for various systems do not repeat.
On models with OBD-II system in the control unit the engine added new function «a freeze frame of data» (freeze frame data). At failure detection by system of self-diagnostics the corresponding diagnostic code will be written down and the current parameters of the main knots and engine systems at present («a freeze frame of data») are written down. This given, only a few by means of a tester, can simplify the analysis of conditions of emergence of malfunction.

Features of diagnostics by means of a tester
The algorithm of work of system of diagnostics of Mitsubishi differs from standard algorithm (OBD II protocol) therefore for performance of correct diagnostics it is recommended to use MUT-II tester a little.
It is recommended to connect a tester (MUT-II) at the switched-off ignition as emergence of failure of electronic control units is possible.
Before tester connection to the diagnostic socket be convinced that the condition and a form of conclusions of the socket correspond to norm.

Diagnostic socket
In the car one standard 16-contact main diagnostic socket (it is located under the dashboard) was established.

Explanations on work of a control lamp of indication of malfunction of the engine («CHECK ENGINE»)
The control lamp lights up for some seconds right after ignition inclusion to show that the lamp functions normally.
Further (after start or at the working engine) a control lamp lights up to warn the driver about failure detection by self-diagnostics system.
Attention: if the control lamp lights up because of malfunction of the control unit, between a tester and the control unit it is impossible to establish communication, thus there is no possibility to consider diagnostic codes.
At critical malfunction (existence of serious defect in system of injection of fuel or system of decrease in toxicity of OG) the control lamp will constantly burn at car movement until the malfunction code after malfunction elimination (i.e. after repair) will be removed.

NOTE
Removal of a code of malfunction is not malfunction elimination

The control lamp will go out at ignition switching off (a key: «OFF»).
Conditions at which the burning control lamp («CHECK ENGINE») can go out on a control unit signal at the included ignition (a code of malfunction remains)

NOTE
For any malfunction the cycle means start stop of the engine or three trips (road car tests) during which monitoring of this malfunction is made.

For malfunction in transmission: if the control unit the engine during three cycles did not find malfunction at the corresponding modes and conditions (see conditions of emergence of a code).
For malfunction in system of toxicity of OG (the admission of flashes in cylinders): if the control unit the engine during a cycle did not find malfunction at similar an operating condition of the engine. (frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft, temperature of cooling liquid etc.) at which malfunction was found for the first time.

Explanations on work of system of self-diagnostics
The control unit the engine traces entrance / target signals (one constantly, others – only under certain conditions). In case it is revealed constant or during the set period violation in system work or if after the first incorrect signal in the control unit the engine some more similar signals arrived, the control unit the engine will apprehend it as malfunction existence, will write down the corresponding code of malfunction in memory and will send a signal on an exit of system of self-diagnostics.

NOTE
Usually if the control unit found malfunction, the control lamp will light up, and the code of malfunction will be written down only after restart of the engine and repeated detection of the same malfunction.

For some malfunctions the control lamp will light up also the corresponding code of malfunction noted by a sign «*», will be written down at its first detection.
As a memory (random access memory of the control unit the engine) has a food directly from the storage battery, results of diagnostics remain, even when a key of the lock of ignition will turn in the situation "VYKL". Codes of malfunctions will be erased at a detachment of the plug of the storage battery or the control unit socket by the engine. Besides, codes of malfunctions are erased, if at the included ignition (the key in the situation "VKL") from a tester on the control unit is sent by the engine a signal about removal of codes of malfunctions.

ATTENTION
If at the included ignition (a key in the situation "ON") to disconnect the socket of any sensor, the control unit will apprehend it as existence of malfunction and in memory of the control unit the corresponding code will register. In this case remove codes of malfunctions.

Standard scheme of search of malfunctions
By Symitiruyte malfunction signs for check of their existence also determine character and emergence conditions (power setting, service conditions etc.).
Consider codes of malfunctions and define the reasons of emergence of the malfunction, checked components and an order of their check.

After repair again check control unit signals the engine. If this time signals in norm, check signals for the following checked component.

Repeated check of signs of malfunction and repair
If as a result of check of a suspected chain of electroconducting and concrete components of defects it is not revealed, but entrance and target signals of the control unit the engine deviate norm, estimate malfunction signs (probably, the initial diagnosis was incorrect or incomplete) more attentively. At further check try to expand a troubleshooting zone on other groups of components (repair if necessary).

As soon as the electronic control unit (with MKP) or the electronic control unit the engine and AKP (cars with AKP) determined cars the engine malfunction, the control lamp of indication of malfunction of the engine lights up each time at restart of the engine and the same malfunction is displayed again. However for a position designated by a badge «*» in the table, the control lamp lights up only once at the first determination of malfunction.
After fire of a control lamp of indication of malfunction of the engine it will go out at performance of the following conditions:
When the electronic control unit (cars with MKP) or the electronic control unit the engine and AKP (cars with AKP) during three times determined by the engine malfunction in transmission.
Sign «*» in the table: in this case "once" designates the period from start to an engine stop.
In a mode of an assessment of admissions of ignition when car traffic conditions (frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft, temperature of cooling liquid, etc.) are similar to that condition at which this malfunction was defined for the first time.
"Sensor 1" means that the sensor is established closer to the engine, and "sensor 2" means the sensor, is established further, in comparison with the first, from the engine.

Reading of diagnostic codes of malfunctions

Be convinced in good repair the storage battery as determination of malfunction is impossible at a low voltage of the storage battery.
Switch off all additional equipment.
Establish the AKP selector lever in the situation "N".

ATTENTION
Do not disconnect the storage battery before complete reading of results of diagnosing as the code of malfunction will be removed from memory of the electronic control unit at a detachment of the storage battery or the control unit socket.

Transfer a key of the lock of ignition to the situation "OFF" ("BYKL".).
At check by means of a tester connect a tester to the diagnostic socket under the dashboard.

ATTENTION
At connection or a tester detachment "ignition" should be switched off (a key of the lock of ignition in the situation "OFF" ("BYKL".).

Include ignition and consider diagnostic codes.
After completion of check transfer a key of the lock of ignition to the situation "OFF" (VYKL) and then disconnect a tester from the diagnostic socket.

Removal of diagnostic codes of malfunctions
Turn a key of the lock of ignition in the situation "OFF".
If the tester is used, connect it to the diagnostic socket and erase codes.
If the tester is not used, disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery on 10 with or more.
After a wire detachment from the negative plug of the storage battery contents of memory of electronic control units of other systems will be lost.
Turn the ignition key in the situation "ON", then be convinced that the code of a normal state is deduced.
After warming up of the engine let's to it work idling not less than 10 minutes.

Diagnosing in the Diagnosis 2 mode
Using MUT-II, switch the electronic control unit to a mode of diagnosing of "Diagnosis 2".
Carry out road test.
Consider diagnostic codes and execute repair procedures for elimination of the found malfunction.
Turn the ignition key in the situation OFF (OFF), and then again transfer it to the situation "ON" ("INCL.").

NOTE
At ignition switching off the electronic control unit the engine will switch a check mode with «Diagnosis 2» to the Diagnosis 1 mode.

Erase diagnostic codes.

Check with use of the DATA LIST modes (the table of data) and «ACTUATOR TEST» (check of actuation mechanisms) MUT-II
Execute check, using the DATA LIST modes (the table of data) and «ACTUATOR TEST» (check of actuation mechanisms) MUT-II.
In case of failure detection check the car electroconducting, the corresponding knots and details.
After repair make repeated check with use of MUT-II and be convinced that as a result of repair an incorrect entrance and target signal became normal.
Remove diagnostic codes of malfunction from memory of the electronic control unit.
Disconnect MUT-II, get again the engine and carry out road tests to be convinced of elimination of this malfunction.

Data "Freeze frame" («FREEZE FRAME»)
When the electronic control unit (cars with MKP) or the electronic control unit the engine and AKP (cars with AKP) determines by the engine malfunction and remembers a diagnostic code of malfunction, it also remembers current state of the engine. This function carries the name "ctop-kadpa" («FREEZE FRAME»). Analyzing "freeze frame" data by means of MUT-II, effective troubleshooting can be carried out. Displayed positions given «stop – a shot» are shown below in the table.

NOTE
If some malfunctions in several systems are found, only one malfunction which was found by the first is remembered.

Ready state to check
The electronic control unit the engine (with MKP) or the electronic control unit the engine and AKP (cars with AKP) supervises cars the following basic diagnosed elements, judges their condition (are serviceable/are faulty) and remembers dynamics of change of their technical condition. The last can be schitano by means of MUT-II (if the electronic control unit had data on a technical condition of any element before, MUT-II highlights «Complete» - "Is executed").
At last, if deleting of diagnostic codes of malfunctions is made, or at a detachment of the storage battery, information on a technical condition of an element (memory of the electronic control unit is dumped) is at the same time erased also.

– Heating element of the oxygen sensor: Р0135, Р0141.

NOTE
Measurement of tension carry out at connected to the electronic control unit the engine (MKP) or to the control unit the engine and AKP (AKP) the socket.
For convenience of connection to conclusions of the socket it is possible to put forward the electronic control unit the engine (MKP) or the electronic control unit the engine and AKP (AKP).
Carrying out checks in other order, excellent from specified in the table for check is allowed.

ATTENTION
Short circuit positive (+) a sampler connected to a conclusion of the socket, on "weight" can cause damage of electroconducting, the sensor, the electronic control unit the engine (MKP) or the electronic control unit the engine and AKP (AKP), or all these elements. Be very careful not to allow it.

If the voltmeter fixes any deviation from nominal rate, check the corresponding sensor, a drive and the corresponding wires, then repair or replace.
After repair or replacement of a detail (knot) make repeated check of tension by the voltmeter that it will be convinced of malfunction elimination.
