7.2.3. Check of a current of return of the generatorThis test is carried out for definition of a current of return of the generator.
Before implementation of this test check the following.
– Generator fastenings
– Storage battery.
ATTENTION
The storage battery should be a little discharged. With completely charged storage battery it is difficult to provide necessary electric loading.

– Tension of a driving belt
– Fusible insert
– Existence of the extraneous noise proceeding from the generator at operation of the engine.
Turn a key of the lock of ignition in the situation "LOCK" it ("is SWITCHED OFF").
Disconnect a negative wire from the storage battery.
ATTENTION
For connection to an electric chain do not use crocodile type clips clothespins. For this purpose use available carving connectors. Otherwise possible weakening of connectors clothespins can lead to negative consequences because of great value of a current proceeding on a chain.

Connect the hinged ampermeter of a direct current with a range of measurements 0–120 And to a wire between a conclusion "In" the generator and the storage battery.
ATTENTION
Connection of the ordinary ampermeter in a rupture of a chain is possible in case electric contact between a conclusion "In" the generator and that wire will not be broken.

Connect the voltmeter with a limit of measurements 0–20 In between a conclusion "In" the generator and "mass" of the car (Connect a positive wire of the voltmeter to a conclusion "In", and a negative wire – to "weight").
Connect a negative wire to the storage battery.
Connect a tachometer or the diagnostic MUT-II/III device.
During carrying out dough the cowl of the car should be open.
The voltmeter should show tension of the storage battery.
ATTENTION
If the voltmeter shows tension 0 In, break of that wire or a fusible insert between a conclusion "In" the generator and the positive plug of the storage battery can be a probable cause of it.

Include headlights and start the engine.
Right after inclusion of a driving beam of headlights and the maximum speed of the fan of heating installation increase frequency of rotation of the engine to 2500 mines-1 and read the maximum instruments of the ampermeter.
Limiting allowed value: not less than 70 % from nominal rate
ATTENTION
The nominal rate of a current of return of the generator is specified in the paragraph «Characteristic of generating installation».

As the current of a charging of the storage battery quickly decreases after engine start, for definition of the maximum current of return of the generator the test should be carried out as fast as possible.
Value of a current of return of the generator depends on the included electric loading and generator temperature.
If during dough it was not possible to create sufficient electric loading, the maximum value of the measured current of return of the generator can appear below the given value even at completely serviceable generator. In that case try to discharge a little the storage battery, having included for some time of a headlight (at the stopped engine), or use devices of illumination of other car as loading.
If the temperature of the generator or air rather high, a current of return of the generator also can appear less than the established value. In this case cool the generator and repeat the test.
Value of a current of return of the generator should be above extremely allowed value. If the current of return of the generator less than extremely allowed value, and a tokovy wire of the generator is serviceable, removal and generator dismantling for definition of a cause of defect is required.
After check release an accelerator pedal.
Turn a key of the lock of ignition in the situation "LOCK" it ("is SWITCHED OFF").
Disconnect a tachometer or the diagnostic MUT-II/III device.
Disconnect a negative wire from the storage battery.
Disconnect the ampermeter and the voltmeter.
Connect a negative wire to the storage battery.
